Draft for the RipClip alpha. Written in plain language; it should be reviewed by a lawyer before RipClip is offered to the public.
Credits and sources
RipClip is built on open-source work and a few outside services. This page lists them with their licenses, and it doubles as our audit of third-party code: there are no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs in RipClip.
Outside services
| Service | Used for | When it's contacted |
|---|---|---|
| Google Identity Services | "Continue with Google" sign-in | Only if you allow it in the cookie banner or click the Google button |
| Meta (Instagram, Facebook), TikTok, X | Publishing posts and reading post statistics | Only for accounts you connect, from our server |
| Email provider (SMTP) | Sending sign-in codes | When you sign up or ask for a new code |
| Kick | Downloading a public Kick clip or video you paste | When you paste a Kick link |
Nothing else is loaded from other websites: fonts, icons, emoji and scripts are all served by RipClip itself.
Open-source software
- FFmpeg: video and audio processing (LGPL / GPL), run on our server.
- faster-whisper and CTranslate2 (MIT), with the Whisper speech model by OpenAI (MIT): speech-to-text, run locally.
- FastAPI, Starlette, Pydantic, Uvicorn (MIT / BSD): the web server.
- NumPy (BSD), Pillow (MIT-CMU), fontTools (MIT), PyAV (BSD), ONNX Runtime (MIT), Tokenizers and huggingface_hub (Apache 2.0), cryptography (Apache 2.0 / BSD), yt-dlp (Unlicense).
- libass (ISC), through FFmpeg: caption rendering.
Emoji
Emoji images are from Noto Emoji by Google, licensed under the Apache License 2.0. The emoji list follows the Unicode Consortium's emoji data (Unicode License).
Made by RipClip
The Shapes and Badges sticker pack and all sound effects are made in-house for RipClip. The RipClip and Riptide names, logo and interface are ours.
Fonts
Caption and text fonts, with the license each is used under. Fonts you upload yourself stay private to your account and are your responsibility.
