How do I clip on Kick?
Updated
In short: open a Kick livestream or VOD, click the Clip icon or press C, set the length with the slider, add a title and press Publish. Kick clips are 10 to 180 seconds long (Kick help, read 18 October 2026), and yes, you can clip a VOD. Any clip can be downloaded as an MP4 when you view it.
What Kick says, in one table
Everything below comes from Kick's own help articles, read on 18 October 2026.
| Question | What Kick states |
|---|---|
| Where can you clip? | On a livestream and on a VOD. |
| How do you start? | Click the Clip icon or press the keyboard shortcut C. |
| How long can a clip be? | 10 to 180 seconds (3 minutes) on desktop and mobile. The slider shortens it to any length in that range. |
| How far back does it start? | Not stated. |
| Who can clip? | Any logged-in viewer, and the streamer. Not someone banned from that streamer's chat. One clip, then a 60-second wait before the next. |
| Can you download it? | Yes: "All Clips can be downloaded when viewed", saved as an .mp4. |
| Who can delete it? | Only the channel owner, from the Clips tab of their channel. |
| How long do VODs last? | Up to 30 days for verified streamers, 7 days for non-verified ones. |
How to clip on Kick
- Open the stream or the VOD. Both can be clipped. You need to be logged in to Kick.
- Click the Clip icon, or press C. The Create clip window opens.
- Set the length. Use the slider. A clip can be 10 to 180 seconds.
- Add a title. Give the clip a name people will recognise.
- Press Publish. The button reads "Publishing to KICK" while it processes. If the clip caught the wrong stretch, Kick suggests refreshing the page.
- Copy the link. Share the Clip Link anywhere. On a livestream you can also send the clip to the streamer's chat; that option isn't available for VODs.
Can you clip a Kick VOD?
Yes. Kick's help says you can create clips from VODs, with one difference: the option to send a clip to the streamer's chat is missing on a VOD. The catch is time. Kick keeps stream replays for up to 30 days on verified channels and 7 days on non-verified ones, and holds 30 replays on a verified channel and 16 on a non-verified one (Kick help, read 18 October 2026). Clip what you need before the replay is gone.
Kick's pages don't say how far back a clip can start when you press the button on a live stream, so use the slider and check the result before you publish.
Who can clip, and the 60-second wait
Any logged-in viewer watching a stream can make a clip, as can the streamer. If you have been banned from the streamer's chat room you can't. After one clip you wait 60 seconds before making another. If a clip you made has vanished, Kick says the streamer most likely deleted it, because only the channel owner can delete clips: they go to their channel page, open the Clips tab, click the three dots next to the clip and choose Delete.
Where clips go and how to download them
Clips are listed on the channel's Clips tab, and each one has a link you can share. Kick's article doesn't describe a separate storage area for clips you made. To save a file, open the clip and click Download: it saves as an MP4, and the article says this works for all clips when viewed.
Vertical and captioned
Kick's clip article describes a length slider and a title. It doesn't describe a vertical version or captions, so check what you get when you download a clip before you post it. TikTok, Shorts and Reels want a tall frame: see how to turn a Kick stream into TikTok clips. The short version:
- Trim to the payoff. Start on the moment and end after the reaction. See how long a clip should be.
- Reframe to 9:16. Keep the speaker large. More in vertical clips with a facecam.
- Caption it. See word-by-word captions.
How to do it in RipClip
For a moment you remember, Kick's own clip button is fast and free. RipClip is for a whole stream you would rather not scrub.
- Copy the link to a Kick VOD (kick.com/your-channel/videos/…) or a clip (kick.com/your-channel/clips/…).
- Paste it into RipClip. It reads the whole video and cuts the moments that stand on their own into 9:16 clips, framed on the speaker and captioned word by word. Clip length "Auto" is 20 to 45 seconds, or you pick.
- Change anything in the editor, then download the clips or schedule them from the calendar.
RipClip clips a stream after it ends and its VOD is up, not while it is live. A 2-hour stream uses 66 HU (Horizon Units); the Free plan includes 110 HU a month. Posting switches on platform by platform as each platform approves RipClip; until then, download your clips and post them yourself. More on the Kick clip maker page.
