Guide
Can I clip other streamers?
In short: only post clips of your own streams, or of streams whose owner has given you permission, and keep that permission in writing. Twitch and Kick let viewers make clips on their own sites, but that isn't permission to post the stream elsewhere: on Twitch the streamer controls whether clips can be exported to social media (Twitch help). This is general information, not legal advice; check each platform's own rules.
What the platforms' clip features allow
- Twitch: viewers can clip live streams and past broadcasts, and the streamer controls whether clips can be exported directly to social media (Twitch help).
- Kick: clips can be made from a livestream or VOD and downloaded as MP4 (Kick help).
Making a clip on the site isn't the same as permission to post it elsewhere.
Why straight reposts don't travel
Instagram says it avoids recommending "unoriginal content that is largely repurposed from another source" with only minor edits (Instagram help). A re-upload with a new caption is exactly that.
If you have permission
- Keep the yes in writing (an email or DM from the streamer).
- Agree the terms: where you'll post, how they're credited, whether revenue is shared.
- Credit them in the caption, and add real work: cut to the moment, caption it, frame it well.
- Leave out what isn't theirs to give, such as music or other people's content playing on the stream.
Edits and credit don't replace permission. RipClip's terms are the same: only use videos you own or have permission to use.
